ParSonics Studio

The home studio of legendary producer and recording engineer Alan Parsons, ParSonics Studio is a state-of-the-art recording facility situated atop the secluded Tres Vientos Ranch in the hills above Santa Barbara. Completed in 2018, the predominantly wooden fixture was inspired by retro and rustic styles and offers panoramic views of lush backdrops that include the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

Parsons has long championed the capabilities of digital recording technology, while remaining steadfast in his belief that analog equipment produces a superior and inimitable sound. A reflection of his pioneering studio acumen, the control room features a 32-channel Rupert Neve Designs 5088 analog console, 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring through B&W Loudspeakers and a premium selection of microphones collected across Parsons’ 50-plus year career, including a Neumann U47 FET, STC Coles 4038 ribbon mics, and the Neve RNR1 ribbon mic, a gift to Parsons from Rupert Neve.

The control room holds between eight and 16 people and looks through to a spacious tracking room with an adjoining iso booth. Adjacent to the studio, guests will find a luxurious green room and catering area decorated with eye-catching memorabilia from Parsons’ storied career and classic rock’s golden age. A wrap-around veranda and patio deck supply ample space for outside dining, seminars, and events. Between its carefully tailored interior and immediate proximity to nature, the studio provides a rejuvenating atmosphere perfectly suited for a hands-on, immersive recording experience and an idyllic creative retreat. ParSonics aspires to be a home for the sound of Santa Barbara and a favored destination for musicians from all spheres.

In 2019, the studio began a renovation centered around the installation of Dolby Atmos surround-sound technology, which was completed in 2022. Recent notable projects recorded at ParSonics include Parsons’ 2019 solo album The Secret, the audiobook for Prince Harry’s bestselling memoir Spare, and private personal material from Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
